When visiting the South Rim of the Grand Canyon be sure to check out the South Kaibab Trail. This trail is a moderate hike with plenty of switchbacks. About a mile from the trailhead you will arrive at Ooh Aah Point for a spectacular view of the Canyon. Continue down another half mile to Cedar Ridge, which has bathroom facilities. There are other stops further down, but we stopped at Cedar Ridge.

Be sure to take lots of water with you, as there is no water available on the trail and there is limited shade. Also be on the lookout for wildlife including Bighorn Sheep and California Condors. You may also encounter mules and/or “aromatic evidence” of mules. Always give the mules the right of way on the trail.
