Southwest Points Calculator
Use this simple Southwest points value calculator to instantly see the dollar value of your Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards balance.
Just enter the total number of points you have (or plan to earn), and the calculator will convert them at an average value of 1.5 cents per point.
A Southwest point is usually worth anywhere between 1.5-2 cents. Here’s how I figure that out:
- Find the points price and cash price for a particular Southwest flight on Southwest.com (toggle between cash and points to get both prices)
- Divide the cash price by the points price
- Multiply by 100
That will give you the “cents” value of the point for any given flight or route.
Using the calculator with the average value of a Southwest point, 1.5 cents, is a quick way to estimate how much free travel you’ve earned — whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, an international flight to Mexico or the Caribbean, or just curious if you have enough points for your next trip.
Southwest Points Value FAQs
How do I calculate the value of my Southwest points?
The easiest thing to do is divide the cash price by the points price for a flight (you can find that by toggling between points/cash when searching for a flight) to see the value per point. Usually, it will be a value between 1.5-2 cents each.
Then, simply multiply your total number of points by that value moving the decimal 2 numerals to the left for a dollar versus points value.
For example, on average, Southwest points are worth 1.5 cents each, so 10,000 points x .015 ≈ $150, 100,000 points ≈ $1,500.
How much are 10,000 Southwest points worth?
At an average value of 1.5 cents per point, 10,000 Southwest points are worth about $150 in flights.
How much are 50,000 Southwest points worth?
At an average value of 1.5 cents per point, 50,000 Southwest points are worth about $750 in flights.
Are Southwest points always worth 1.5 cents each?
Not always, but usually they range between 1.5-2 cents per point.
Can I use Southwest points for international flights?
Yes. You can redeem points for destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, though you will usually pay higher taxes and fees coming back into the US based on what your destination country charges.
Do connecting flights cost more Southwest points?
Southwest prices flights based on the cash fare, not the number of connections. Sometimes a connecting flight can actually cost fewer points than a nonstop — always check both options before booking.
