“My Life in France” by Julia Child – One of my all-time favorite books that I’ve read at least three times. A wonderful memoir of life in France (as well as small mentions of Germany and Norway). This is one of our Secrets of a Travel Journalist Club book club selections.

“The Path to Rome” by Hillaire Belloc – The French-British historian’s first travelogue

“Leisure: The Basis of Culture” by Joseph Pieper – Pieper considers the true meaning of “leisure,” which is doing something for the sake of doing it, without any utility, like travel :). Explore the importance of “leisure” in our lives and how you can make your own travels more “leisurely.”

“Prince Phillip Revealed” by Ingrid Seward – Since our spring 2025 trip to London, I’ve been reading up on the British royal family, as I am fascinated not so much with their “celebrity” but by the long, unbroken line of a monarchy that still holds sway in modern society unlike any other around the world. Prince Phillip is an interesting man with blood relations from many of the royal families of Europe, and both he and Queen Elizabeth II were both great grandchildren of Queen Victoria. So interesting!
